Oreo Krispies

With midterms coming up next week, our schedules are bound to be filled with endless homework and days of studying. We decided to play the easiest level for our next creation, as we will be making desserts for the entire class. It will be the first time we are going to give a large group of people our results! This was our initial plan, but it did not go so well, as we were unable to balance the cost and time to bake that much food for twenty-five people. We will be giving out the desserts during our presentation for the passion project pitch (also known as part of our midterm) in order to win our class over and coerce them into “buying” our project. This week we have been slowly gathering the three ingredients needed to make Oreo krispies! I first saw this while scrolling through my Facebook feed; a video just so happened to catch my eye (of course, since food always catches my attention) of crushed Oreos being dumped into a large bowl. Curious, I watched as the marshmallows and butter were melted over the stove and the sticky mixture was poured over the black-and-white cookies. Then, they were combined together with a spatula and carefully dumped into a greased rectangular/square pan. Once firmly and evenly pressed down, they can be chosen to be placed in the fridge to chill for a chewier texture or  served immediately as a warm and gooey treat (the person in the video chose the latter). The final result looked incredibly delectable!

We are definitely excited to make this, as Oreos are delicious on its own, and the addition of the sweet and fluffy marshmallows, as well as the flavor of the butter will give the Oreos a balance of different types of sweetness as well as a hint of saltiness. This is a fusion that cannot go wrong! As we had multiple failures in the past with baking, we decided to take a break from it and just simply focus on making desserts. As we learn to improve from our mistakes when making desserts, we will slowly transition back into baking treats from across the globe. I wish us the best of luck next Wednesday (when we'll meet up to make the krispies) and Thursday (when we'll pitch our project idea to the class)!
