Science fair is finally over! Yay! Now that our schedules have definitely cleared up a bit, we are aiming to focus more on the baking aspect of our project. With Valentine’s Day coming up, as we had mentioned in our previous blogpost, we are aiming to make a treat dedicated to this holiday. While looking for some inspiration for our dessert, I stumbled upon a video (“DIY Valentine's Day Treats & Gifts ♡ Cute Easy Ideas!”). There, I saw an idea that many other Youtubers have done: cupcakes. Since we have never made cupcakes without an adult ourselves, I was curious on whether or not we could actually accomplish making thirty of these for the class. Cupcakes also seemed like a great idea, as we are planning to slowly go back to baking, and they are quite simple to make. I initially wanted to make macarons, but our friends advised us against it, as it is extremely difficult to make, and we were not experienced enough. Although we are not at that level now, I am hoping that in the future, we will become more comfortable with baking and reach that level of creating desserts. Anyways, for our cupcakes, we have decided to follow the video, as the ideas are very creative; melting chocolate and piping designs onto parchment paper to make little decorations for the toppings is one that I am interested in attempting. Like the video as well, we have chosen to use cake box mix; other ingredients that we will need/to purchase include: festive cupcake liners, a cupcake pan, food dye (most likely pink, white, and/or red), ingredients required to make the box mix (eggs, oil, and water), frosting, Valentine’s Day sprinkles, plastic bags, chocolate (white and milk), and parchment paper. We will be making and baking (this rhymed!) the cupcakes next Monday, or the day before Valentine’s Day. Zhou and I are both excited to make these, and this will be the second time creating desserts for the class! We really hope that it will turn out just as good as our previous creation, if not better! We will also most likely be buying and collecting all of the ingredients throughout the week. Wish us the best of luck!
